Rise In Love – Food Distribution

About Rise in Love

Rise in Love is a people-first, Christian-based, all-volunteer charity working to provide support to families and individuals in need in local communities. They utilize 100% of every donation to fund programs that provide food, clothing, education, employment, transportation, shelter, childcare, and more — empowering people to transition from surviving to thriving.

About the Project

Food insecurity touches more lives in our community than we often realize, and Rise in Love is on the front lines of meeting that need — and we want you to be part of it. There are several ways to plug in based on your abilities and energy: serve as a runner, help with registration, work behind the scenes in food sorting, or get hands-on with bagging and distribution. No matter where you serve, you’ll be showing up for neighbors who need to know someone cares. Come ready to work and ready to love our community in a very practical way.

Blanket Making

There’s something powerful about a blanket — it’s warmth, comfort, and a tangible reminder that someone cares. Join us as we come together as a church family to create beautiful no-sew fleece blankets for the women at Renee Jones Empowerment Center and the children we serve through our partnership with Good Knights. No sewing, no special skills, and no experience needed — just willing hands and a heart to serve. This is a wonderful project for the whole family, so bring the kids and make memories while making a difference.

Dates and times for future projects are coming soon!

Good Knights Bed Building and Delivery

Good Knights is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving low-income families in Lorain County through an empowerment model that aids with dignity. Beds for children are constructed through a two-step process: ‘Build Days’ utilize raw materials provided by sponsors and donors, while ‘Delivery Days’ engage the community to assemble and deliver beds to families. Approximately 1,200 beds will be built and delivered in 2026, and over 5,500 beds have been built and delivered to children in need since 2020!

About the Project

Every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to sleep — but for many kids in our community, that’s not a reality. Good Knights is changing that, one bed at a time, and we need your hands to make it happen. Whether you join us for bed making — sanding, drilling, and staining beds using easy-to-follow templates — or bed delivery, where you’ll bring finished beds into the homes of children who need them, you’ll be part of something that truly matters. No experience necessary. Wear work boots if you have them and dress ready to work.

Volunteers can sign up for either Bed Building, Bed Delivery & Setup or both.

City Mission: Running with a Mission Sept 12

“Running with a Mission” (RWAM) is one of the City Mission’s most important fundraisers — a community celebration that fuels life‑changing work for men, women, and children experiencing crisis in Cleveland. Every dollar raised supports programs that provide safe shelter, trauma‑informed care, long‑term housing solutions, job readiness, and Christ‑centered hope for families rebuilding their lives.

Christ Church is partnering with the City Mission again this year and our volunteers will serve behind the scenes to help make the event welcoming, joyful, and smooth for hundreds of participants. Opportunities include greeting runners, a race course volunteer, supporting the kids’ activities, and more.  Your presence is a direct expression of Christ’s love to our neighbors — and a practical way to strengthen the Mission’s work across the city.

This is a family friendly event that welcomes over 500 participants and the proceeds benefit men, women and children, working to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness via the City Mission’s programs and services. There will be a 5K race, 1 mile walk, and a kids Fun Run (ages 1-12).  All volunteers will receive a free T-shirt.

Location:
Edgewater Beach Lower Area
6500 Cleveland Memorial Parkway
Edgewater Park, Cleveland, Ohio.44102

Logistics:
All volunteers are asked to arrive by 8:00am, unless you are working the Kids Dash which requires a 7:30am arrival. The event runs until noon. Parking is free.
