Love Week is our favorite time of year!  We have the privilege of coming together as a church to “LOVE” our community partners in an even bigger way!  This is a great way to get involved, meet new people and experience the joy of serving others.  Simply review the opportunities listed below and sign up to join us on this adventure.

Blanket Making

This is a fun opportunity for our church to work together to provide beautiful blankets for the women at Renee Jones Empowerment Center, as well as other recipients.  It is also a chance for our congregation to get to know each other through conversations during the participation of this special project.

  • ColumbiaStation Blanket Making July 20 (12:15-2:30 p.m.) and July 23 (4:00-6:00 p.m.)

  • Old Brooklyn Campus Blanket Making July 27 (12:15- 2:30 p.m.)

What volunteers need to know:

There are no special skills required and this is a great way for families to serve together. Please bring sharp fabric scissors if you have them.

Card Making July 25

We are partnering with Operation Gratitude, as well as making cards for hospitalized kids and those in nursing homes. Our desire is to bless others through our creations by pouring our love and the love of Christ into each card.

Please arrive as promptly as possible in order to receive all verbal instructions

No special skills are needed!

Just bring your willingness to assemble beautiful cards using provided materials

Good Knights Bed Building and Delivery July 21 & 26

Good Knights is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to serving low-income families in Lorain County through an empowerment model aiding with dignity.  Beds for children are constructed through a two-step process. ‘Build days’ are made possible through Good Knights sponsors/donors who provide the raw materials for the bed components to be built. ‘Delivery days’ engage the community to further rally volunteers to assist, assemble and deliver the beds to families on a separate day. If sufficient funding is secured, recipients may also receive a pillow, sheet set and blankets when their bed is delivered.

  • Bed Building – July 21 (5:30 – 7:30 p.m.) We will meet at Good Nights in Elyria.  Please arrive promptly.
  • Bed Delivery – July 26  (9:30 a.m). We will again meet at Good Nights in Elyria.  Please arrive promptly.

What Volunteers need to know:

Bed making involves sanding, drilling, and staining the beds using the easy-to-follow templates and instructions. 

Bed delivery includes in-home delivery and assembly of the beds that were created in the previous week.

Laura’s Home Cleaning and Organizing Project – July 25 

Laura’s Home is a 12-month residential facility for women and children. The Home provides Christian discipleship, Life skills, and Job readiness. For women and children, Laura’s Home is a bridge from crisis to stability and self-sufficiency. Volunteers provide essential resources, and hope to the women, helping them rebuild their lives in a safe and supportive environment.

  • Indoor beautification project helping to organize, sort, clean, and disinfect common areas. July 25  (8:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)

Post Love Week Project details:

Laura’s Home is a ministry of The City Mission.  We will be partnering with City Mission 5K run on September 6.  Check back here for details and to sign up to volunteer at the 5K.

Old Brooklyn Food Distribution July 26 

Our Old Brooklyn Campus serves the community in partnership with the Cleveland Food Bank. Volunteers pack and distribute bags of fresh produce and pantry items to families as they drive by our church.

Red Cross Blood Drive July 20

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.​  Your blood donation saves lives. A Red Cross clinic will be open before and after church at our Columbia Station Campus gymnasium on Sunday, July 20. NOTE: Red Cross employees implement enhanced precautions to ensure our blood drive and donation site is safe for all.

Renee Jones Empowerment Center July 24 

Renee Jones Empowerment Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is unique in providing holistic restorative services for minor and adult human trafficking and sexual assault victims. These victims face many adverse challenges such as physical and emotional abuse, poverty, and addiction. The Center’s mission is to empower these individuals to advocate for themselves and to improve their quality of life through personal, social, and professional development. The Center is devoted to preventing human trafficking and sexual exploitation by actively engaging the community in anti-trafficking efforts and educating service professionals, law enforcement, educators, students, parents, and the community on the realities of this growing crime.

  • Cleaning and organizing project at RJEC on Thursday, July 24, (5:30 – 7:30 p.m

Rise in Love – Hot Meal Service  July 20 

Rise in Love is a people first, Christian based, all volunteer charity, working to provide support to families and individuals in need that are struggling right here in our local communities. Rise in Love utilizes 100% of every donation to fund programs that provide food, clothing, education, employment, transportation, shelter, childcare, and so much more, empowering people to transition from just surviving to thriving.

Love Week Project

Help serve the monthly Hot Meal. Rise In Love serves over 400 delicious home-cooked meals (dine-in and carry-out). July 20 (2:00-5:00 p.m.)

There are several different volunteer positions available, such as hall set-up, food line servers, table servers, food runners, beverage service, clean-up, etc.

What Volunteers Need to Know:

The meal will be served at St. Albert the Great Church.

Children over age 10 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult 18 or over.

3rd Saturday of every month: Food Ditribution held at Cross of Hope Church.

 

Second Harvest Food Bank  July 21 

The mission at Second Harvest is to create pathways to nutritious food in our community! Second Harvest Food Bank distributes food throughout Lorain County supporting various food drives, pantries and seniors. You can be a part of this by volunteering to help inspect, sort and box food for distribution. Christ Church currently partners with this organization by purchasing food from Second Harvest that is then distributed monthly at our West Campus pantry.

Love Week Project

Pack Pantry Boxes full of food before they are distributed at Mobile and School Pantries. Other projects may include inspecting food and non-food products for quality, sorting products and boxing products for distribution to Partner Charities.

 What Volunteers Need to Know:

Volunteers must be 12 or older.  If under 18, must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who is 21 or older.

Sort and Pack Backpacks July 23

Christ Church is proud to continue our partnership with Midview Schools in Elyria through our West Campus Food4Kids program. This school year, we’re excited to expand our support by providing essential school supplies and backpacks to students in need.

Instead of offering complimentary Love Week T-shirts, we’re redirecting those funds to help equip students with the tools they need to succeed.

Auditorium Refresh

Columbia Station Auditorium Refresh

Let’s show some love to our Columbia Station campus! Join us throughout the week as we roll up our sleeves to refresh our backstage areas and organize storage spaces. We’ll also be giving the auditorium a top-to-bottom deep clean. Whether you’re a cleaning pro or just ready to lend a hand, we’d love to have you on the team!

NextGen Community Serve Day July 25

As part of Love Week at Christ Church, we’re inviting all PreK through 12th grade students to join us for our NextGen Community Serve Day—a special morning focused on serving others and growing together in faith. From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on July 25th, kids will kick off the day together, then break out into age-appropriate service projects that make a real difference in our community. We’ll wrap up with a time of food, connection, and fun! Registration is encouraged

Night to Shine February 13, 2026

Christ Church is thrilled to partner with the Tim Tebow Foundation to host an unforgettable evening of food, dancing, and celebration for our friends with special needs. Every year, more than 400 dedicated volunteers come together to make this magical night a reality.

Registration opens in late September—be sure to check back often for volunteer opportunities and join us in making memories that last a lifetime!
