"Love Makes the Soul Healthy"

Dear Friend,

What we feed our souls affects us just as much as what we feed our bodies. This is also true when it comes to “exercising” our souls. It’s important to remember that loving—and being loved—also develops a healthy soul.

Let me suggest three aspects of love that make the soul healthy:

  • Unselfishness – When the soul feels, thinks and chooses purposes greater than itself, it grows strong.
  • Gratitude – When the soul gives thanks for the joys and blessings of life, it thrives. When it resents what it seems to lack, it becomes weak.
  • Truth – The Scriptures teach us that when we speak the truth in love, we bless ourselves and those to whom we speak.

I hope you’ll think of new ways to nurture your soul and the souls of others around you today, keeping in mind these three qualities of love – unselfishness, gratitude and truth.
