We have a champion–Don Nelson, 86 years young!–who is lining up a schedule for us to spend a Saturday or two at City Center Thrift in Medina. I think we’ll be working on inventorying new donations and getting them ready for re-sale.

The team has decided upon a benefit for needy families in the Columbia Station area in conjunction with Blessings in a Backpack.

Our group is helping a family in the inner city through Berea Children’s home. We are putting together five easter baskets for the children, a basket for mom to cover some needs in the home and gift cards so they can purchase new clothing.

Our team is collecting for the Cleveland Pregnancy Center. We have a team member who experienced the generousity of the center some years ago, and we are very excited to give back! If anyone has any items to donate, please bring the items to room 201 on Thursday nights between 6:45pm and 7:00pm. Our last class is Thursday April 5th, 2012.

Hello to all!!! I luckily belong to Jim McClaren’s Wednesday a.m. 40 Days of the Word Class. We collected $100.00 for the Harvest for Hunger campaign. Because I work for the Cleveland Clinic, I donated this money through their website, thus DOUBLING OUR DONATION TO $200.00!!! This will pay for 800 nutritious meals for needy people in the Cleveland area. If you have a member in your 40 Days of the Word class that works for the Cleveland Clinic, they can also send a donation through the Cleveland Clinic. The email address is http://www.clevelandfoodbank.org/clevelandclinic. This program looks like it is good through the end of this month. Jesus is good and has blessed 800 needy people in the Cleveland area with our donation!

Our Micah 6:8 champion is Kathy Burton. Our group has decided to participate with Oasis of Hope – an abortion recovery/crisis pregnancy center that is just in it’s beginning stages, based in Medina. We will be helping to get the building cleaned and ready for them to open by volunteering there on two Saturdays, as well as donate some much needed supplies. Our Micah 6:8 champion is Kathy Burton. We are very excited that God has placed us in the position to help this very important organization get up & running!!

  8. Darlene King says:

Our Life Group has adopted the Oaks Family Care Center in Brunswick. They are a Christ based organization that assists over 2000 families a year in a variety of services. We will be delivering a variety of items such as diapers and formula on Tues. after our final 40 Day lesson. We plan to give the Oaks on-going support as our group continues.

  9. Robin Gehlmann says:

Our group is blessed to be working with a start up non-profit organization called Oasis of Hope which is a Pregnancy and Parenting Support Center. This amazing group will touch many lives as they reach out to provide pregnancy support services through education and new mom classes; post abortion recovery groups as well as parenting support services. As this center has not yet opened, we’ll be supporting them with painting, carpentry, and cleaning services to get them up and running next month!!! The Center feels as blessed as we do in the opportunity to help get this amazing organization off the ground!

  10. Rochelle Thuener says:

Our group will be supporting a young missionary family in Cali, Columbia. Their needs are great and we plan on continuing our support after our small group formally ends.

  11. Sharon Collings says:

Our Thursday night group has had a great time together. We took on three projects:

    1. Bought gifts for premature twins and helped the family.

    2. Collected items for a City Mission project called, “Hope Totes.”

    3. Game financial aid to a lonely woman – a neighbor of one of our group. She took her to the vet and helped get much needed help.

  12. Donald Schrubb says:

Our Sunday morning group worked with a Thursday group collecting and donating much needed supplies to the Malachi House, in Cleveland. The Malachi House is a 15 bed home that serves as the caregiver of the terminally ill, who have limited or no financial resources and are in need of special home care in the final days of life. The Malachi House was shocked by our donation and said it was the largest donation they have received in a long time. Thank you so much groups! It was a pleasure meeting with you over the past six weeks and serving God together.

  13. Chris and Shelly Duke says:

What a great opportunity to serve! Our Life Group chose to collect new socks for school age Native American children in South Dakota through the Christian Native American church in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. A couple in our group has worked with this church in the past and informed us of the poverty, hardships and suffering currently going on there. We also are collecting Home Depot gift cards which will enable the church to purchase much needed shelving to help organize and store donations with. It’s been a good experience all around!

  14. Susan Lyon says:

Our group of nearly a dozen ladies will go to Keller Williams Realty on Saturday, April 28th, from 9 to noon, to accomplish two things … First, we are sorting and processing donated clothing for a ministry called Helping Hands. Second, we are collecting personal care items to create hygiene kits for infants, children and adults for Laura’s Home Shelter / Hope Totes, part of City Mission. Our 40 Days group certainly was a blessing, and we all grew in our faith through this study! We thank Christ Church for offering this opportunity to learn and serve!

  15. Don Verdell says:

Our group chose to answer the call that no one is lonely and reach out to the seniors at two local nursing homes. Part of our group had our children make and color bookmarks. We gave them away after the Easter worship service at both of the facilities in which our members participated.
