1 Kings 19:1-8

The prophet Elijah was exhausted after intense emotional, physical and spiritual ministry. He wanted to quit, even quit his life. God called him to rest, through eating and sleeping. The higher our output the greater the need for rhythms of renewal and rest. Even the greatest people of faith need to rest and be refreshed.

Matthew 6:25-34

Our stress many times comes from misaligned priorities. We worry about what God has promised to provide. Yet we often don’t stress about God’s kingdom and purpose, which is our responsibility to prioritize. As we enter the new year we have an opportunity to seek God’s kingdom first and worry less about the routine aspects of life.

2 Corinthians 1:8-10

Stress can be a spiritual catalyst in our lives. God uses the pressure of life to break our self-dependency. At the end of the day we cant do life without God. We are meant to see He is sufficient for all our needs and we are not. We stress because we believe it all rests on us.

Matthew 11:28-29

The burdens we carry weigh us down and wear us out. Jesus calls us to take up His yoke and to find rest in Him. The presence and wisdom of Jesus free us from the weight of life. The more influence Jesus has on my life the lighter my greatest burdens become.
